In Spanish, possessive pronouns are divided into two types according to their position: ante posed and postposed.
Ante posed possessive pronouns: They are placed before the noun they accompany and are always accompanied by the definite article. The most common are mi(s), tu(s), sus(s), nuestro(s). They indicate possession directly. Example: My house is big (the house belongs to me).
Postposed possessive pronouns: They are placed after the noun and usually have the definite article when it is not explicit to whom the object belongs. Examples: mío(s), tuyo(s), suyos(s), nuestro(s), Example: This house is mine (the house belongs to me).
